The UV-C Germicidal Machine was a student-led community project the team began working on in 2021. This started as a concept for the 2021 FIRST At-Home Challenges during the FRC season. At the end of the season, we came up with a reasonable plan and a lot of CAD to build an operational prototype.

The machine utilized UV-C light for disinfection. Our inspiration was for this to help provide a safer method to clean Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for our neighbor, Star EMS, our local first responders, as well as FIRST in Michigan’s PPE Challenge. It is definitely one of our greatest accomplishments over the last few years, being able to pull together as a team to build something positive in a challenging time, and share it with our community!
